ESG
Focus Hotels promises to act in an ethical and responsible manner on environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies, recognising the importance to our partners, guests and all stakeholders.
ESG is one of four key performance metrics that we use to measure the success of our hotels and wider organisation, supporting gross operating profit while encouraging our teams to innovate and evolve their approach to environmental, social and governance issues.
ESG management is critical to our long-term growth and profitability. We pledge to implement policies that give back to our people, communities, environment, and guests.
Our 2030 Pledge

Environmental
As hotel owners and operators, we have a responsibility to protect the environments, communities and destinations in which we operate.
Energy: Our 2030 energy goal will be achieved by focusing on energy efficiency whilst actively decreasing our scope 1 and 2 carbon emission intensity by 30% – ultimately reducing both utility costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Water: Our hotels have a number of policies and practices in place to decrease water consumption usage in our accommodation, back of house and spas, with a goal of reducing water intensity by 35% by 2030.
Waste: The aim of our waste strategy is to decrease the overall amount of waste our hotels produce. Schemes such as recycling, using waste to energy technology and food donations are some of our ongoing initiatives to achieve 40% waste reduction by 2030.
Social
Hospitality is nothing without the people and communities at its core. At Focus, we believe in giving back to everyone involved in creating unforgettable guest experiences at our hotels.
People: Our approach to DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) strives to create an environment that gives opportunity and growth to all employees across our hotels, with a clear focus on professional development, company culture and meaningful recognition.
Community: We actively connect with our local communities to identify and help with issues affecting their well-being, championing both local and group charitable initiatives.
Conduct: We are dedicated to delivering ongoing training in human trafficking, modern slavery, and diversity and inclusion for all employees, whilst using industry technology in our recruitment activity to ensure consistency and opportunities across the board.

Governance
Transparency, fairness and responsibility sit at the centre of our governance policies and decision-making processes, with a key emphasis on sustaining positive working relationships.
We take pride in our diverse team of colleagues who warmly welcome our guests, and we offer training on fostering an inclusive workplace for everyone.
From our CEO to team members, we are aligned to deliver responsible principles into the way we do business.
