Focus Hotels is proud to announce Alzheimer’s Society as its charity of the year for 2024, with a fundraising target of £10,000.
Chosen through nominations from each hotel across the company’s UK-wide portfolio, alongside the selection of a local charity for every property, the charity will be the focus of an array of fundraising efforts and internal initiatives aimed at supporting those living with and affected by dementia.
“Hotels are community hubs that bring people together. In such a people-focused industry, it is crucial that we make a meaningful impact in the lives of our guests and local communities. Dementia devastates the lives of millions worldwide, affecting the memories, wellbeing and experiences that our industry prioritises at every level, and we are proud to support and advocate for Alzheimer’s Society in 2024.”
Devin Grosse, CEO, Focus Hotels
Fundraising
Throughout the year, teams from across the Focus portfolio will engage in an array of challenges and events to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, including running, swimming, trekking and cycling. Each hotel under the Focus umbrella is also set to introduce a range of in-house fundraising activities, including collection boxes, merchandise sales, and donation schemes tailored for corporate and group bookings.
Awareness
The forget-me-not flower is “a small blue flower that represents remembrance and is long-associated with dementia” due to the symptom of memory loss experienced by many of those affected by the illness. Each of our hotels will plant forget-me-not gardens to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s Society’s forget-me-not appeal and our support of the charity.
Training & Volunteering
Our teams will be getting involved in the training and volunteer programmes facilitated by the charity, such as the Dementia Friends initiative and Companion Calling scheme.
Further actions and events will be announced and implemented throughout the year.
