Fundraising efforts primarily consisted of individual hotel activity within the local community, which raised £20,196 for Focus Hotel’s chosen charity for 2025, Macmillan. Activities included everything from car washes and bake sales to Christmas wrapping and Macmillan’s world’s biggest coffee morning.
Each hotel also participated in ‘one million moves for Macmillan’, which saw team members getting physical with activities like canoeing, walking, running, swimming and cycling.
Other fundraising activities also took place for a variety of other charities throughout the year. This includes Focus Hotel CEO Devin Grosse’s bike ride for suicide prevention charity Cameron’s Companions. In collaboration with the Annual Hospitality Conference, Devin and his fellow cyclists cycled from London to Manchester, raising a total of £2,620.
Meanwhile, Swans Nest Hotel raised £1,148 for Shakespeare’s Hospice with their annual dragon boat race and DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre have secured £1,090 to date for Hospitality Action and The Brightwell MS centre. Other charities hotels have supported include NSPCC.
Focus Hotels’ Charity Chairs Katherine Jeffries (General Manager at Swans Nest Hotel) and Katherine Webster-Brown (General Manager at Mercure Hatfield Oak Hotel) led the overall charity project throughout the year, supported by the other hotel GMs.
Charity works forms a huge part of Focus Hotel’s ESG and overall company vision. It also highlights the company’s passion for supporting the local community, supporting charities and working together as a team.
